Allergy help for Roxi Dog

With today's ease of the internet it's easy to find quality dog food. I never have to walk down a grocery store aisle to buy some. Chewy by far is the easiest way to order food & treats. This post I'm including my favor companies!

Brother's Complete has by far the best kibble & comes in 4 different proteins with treats to match. They also use a high quality bag that keeps the food fresh & insect free. They now are working on adding a goat flavor to the line!

I really like adding some 'soft' to her meal, I add about 1/3 cup. Adding a little helps with hydration as Roxi isn't a big on drinking water. We've been using Zignature Kangaroo or Lamb Formula, a limited ingredient product. 

I'm fond of adding a booster or topper to her food as well. I've been using "Toppers" from Vital Essentials. These come in four proteins & are a crumb like mix that I use as alternative to an all-raw diet. There're freeze-dried from free-range beef and vital organs.

Our kibble stays fresh as can be with a Vittles Vault. This storage container is made of heavy-duty BPA free food grade plastic, which is a must when storing kibble. We ordered the 40lb size, which is stackable, or in our case fits nicely underneath our top cabinets. I'm so glad we ordered a size larger than I was thinking of getting (25lb). Mainly because I love the slanted shape design, it's so easy to get the kibble out! It has a super wide lid for easy fill and easy to scoop out our @brotherscompletepetfood kibble. The lid is also air-tight to keep pests out & freshness in.

I've added to 'Complete Me' to Roxi's diet. This is a multi-vitamin, anti-oxidant skin & coat supplement. The key ingredient is Provinal purified Omega-7 oil, clinically proven to lower LDL & triglycerides & boost HDL levels. TruDog has a complete line of supplements, food, treats, dental & accessories. 

I'm very conscience of Roxi's weight keeping her under 50lbs.  I never give table scrapes! Roxi only expects food in the morning & evening meals. I give her a lunch snack which is a dental treat or a raw treat plus 2 cookies for bedtime.  Feeding amounts on packaging is meant as a guideline that you control. I'm of the opinion to feed a little less for meals if you want to treat during the day. No matter what you choose to feed try to make it a product with no fillers or artificial ingredients.  You might find feeding a quality product will cost you less due to the amount you feed. FYI these are my opinions on how I want to feed my dog, Roxi.

Hot summer days, stay cool with GoFreshPet products

It's the start of summer and we got to test out products to keep your dog cool & safe.


The GoFresh life vest is sporty & safe, we especially like the chin panel that helps support Roxi's head, it also has a large easy grip handle. Be safe & always use a life vest in the water.

Hanging out to watch the squirrels got a whole lot cooler with an Ice Mat. This cooling pet mat is gel filled & can keep pets comfortable up to 7 degrees cooler. We're on the L/XL size that opens to 19" x 35" and folds up to 12" x 19". The only note of caution is that sharp claws can puncture the mat, so be careful if you have a pet that will leap off. We plan on taking this with us on the afternoon boat rides.

Roxi's looks cool & is cool in her @gfpet cooling vest. This vest comes damp & ready to use. It's made of some sort of unique net that's soft & cool to the touch as well as designed to reflect the sun.  The vest stayed soft & cool for about 5 hours. It starts to get 'hard' from the water evaporating, simply rewet the vest & wring out the extra water then reuse. Comes in 6 sizes from XS-XXL. We were sent a XL, it is slightly large for her but still cooled her. It's machine washable in cold water with mild soap. 

GoFresh pets also carry a water bottle that has a lickable roller ball spout. The bottle comes with a carry cord & carabineer hook. It's so important to always have fresh water available for your pets.

The Ice Toy looks like a popsicle that you fill with water & freeze. Cools them while they lick or play with it.

A Pet with Paws Wristlet

Function with fashion...Roxi.

We were sent a 'A Pet with Paws', blue scarlet poop bag wristlet to review. This definitely isn't your average poop bag carrier. This bag I'm going to use when I'm able to take Roxi shopping or to a dinner out with me. It's so fashionable, plus it's large enough to hold my iPhone6, keys, credit card along some treatsfor Roxi. 

The fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles making it eco-friendly. The inside has a zippered compartment for Roxi's poop bags so they don't unroll inside the bag. All the seams are encased so that there's no unraveling. Has a two zipper closer for easy accessibility. 

Summertime is right around the corner so if you're like me & want to take your dog to that patio seating, this is the must take dog fashion accessory. It comes in three colors scarlet, pecan & pink. Solvit Pet Car Cuddler

The 'car cuddler' is the perfect seat cover for Roxi since she loves car rides & naps. This is a padded cover of micro-suede & faux sheepskin. We wanted the small size because it fits a bucket seat or half of the back seat. Roxi's weight is 45lbs & as you can see she curled up in it perfectly! 

This cover comes with the padded inserts not in the cover, for shipping purposes, but it's easy to put them in the cover with the long zippers. To install just slip the strap over the head rest. It has a tube to slide between the back & seat cushion to hold it in place. You can attach the seat beat over the cuddler or as I do with Roxi, attach the seatbelt directly into the seat buckle. The cover is machine washable, they recommend removing the padding before washing.

They also carry a large size that would fit a full bench seat but that size didn't suit my needs. The size of the small cuddler 19"D x 23"W x 5"H & the large bench 40"L x 23"W x 5"H

Microfiber Pet Products

Rub a dub dub, dry that wet dog...Roxi.

If you have never used the 'Dri-Tail' pet towel, we recommend that you try one! These are made from microfiber chenille that's super absorbent. It's designed so that they have large pockets for your hands. Found this to be perfect to dry & wipe Roxi off after going out on a rainy day, as well. This is an amazing towel that just holds so much water.

The pet rug is the same material but has a skid resistant bottom, it's that tacky feeling bath mat stuff. We received two sizes, a large & a small. I used the small as a bath mat for when she came directly out of the tub. Made her stand on it as I dried her off with the amazing towel. It easily absorbed the water dripping off her. The large, which is the better size for Roxi, I keep in front of her door. She loves lying on it & watching the world go by, as it's super soft. I love the fact that it cleans her paws before she comes thru the house plus it looks better that the towel I was using! 

The microfiber chenille paw cleaners are meant to be worn on your fingers to clean the paws. They worked fine on wiping light dirt off Roxi's paws, for a dog her size we like the mitt better. I do think they would be well suited for small dogs as they do clean & dry well. 

I love having the 'Pet Mitt' in the car. It's made from ultra-absorbent microfiber chenille strands. Perfect for cleaning dirt & drying off paws, legs & the belly before the ride home! It's become part of Roxi's travel kit... A clean doggie makes for a happier mom.

Eat More Raw with Darwin's Pet

Roxi loves raw food! I'm feeding Roxi one package a day mixed with her 'no grain' kibble. I like mixing her food, half & half (kibble with raw) I find that she loves the raw mix added so much more then plain kibble. She starts to make slurping sounds!  A raw diet is supposed to be better for your pet. Helping with allergies, their coat and their digestion. I have never gone completely raw so I'm not sure if this is true. Roxi has always done well with a mix, never any poop problems.
